A flood water outfall culvert in Great Harwood, Lancashire, was being slightly contaminated with benzene, coal tar and other light and heavy fuels. Initially, it was considered a bit of a mystery until historic records showed a disused gas works site was above one location with historic ground contamination being the only possible cause.
The repair involved entering the culvert in periods of low/no rainfall and spray applying our Ombran MHP chemical resistant lining to the 42 linear metres of the outfall culvert to effectively seal against any contaminated water ingress through any defects.
The lining was completed in budget and offered a leak-tight lining solution that did not restrict flow and offered long term protection for decades to come.
