MC Building Chemicals
A bridge deck is a superstructure between two abutment walls that is often supported by central piers where the span extends a significant distance. Bridge decks can be supported by a traditional brick or stone barrel arch construction or pre-tensioned precast concrete units.
Traditional construction techniques involve waterproofing of the decks by spray applied liquid membranes such as Stirling Lloyd Eliminator or sheet membrane systems such as a Wolfin membrane systems.
The above systems are now considered costly and disruptive with elastomer gel injection systems from M C Building Chemicals being considered as a more modern approach to waterproofing of bridge decks as all work is carried out from below the deck with product being injected to form a flexible, continuous membrane without the need to lift track or road surfaces.
